The 32nd European Peptide Symposium was successfully held at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall from the 2nd to 7th September, 2012. More than 700 people from 40 different countries participated actively in the Symposium in a joyful atmosphere in a typical hot Athenian weather.

The Department had an active participation in the conference organization and works. Prof. Cordopatis was the Honorary Chairman and Assist. Prof. George Pairas was a member of the Organizing Committee. Dr. Spyroulias, Dr. Magafa, Dr. Lamari, Dr. Tatsi, Ms. Spanopoulou, Ms. Exarchakou and Ms. Mertziani took part with oral and poster presentations.

The scientific program was intense and stimulated a lot of fruitful discussions in and out of the auditoria. The poster sessions (with more than 500 posters) was a meeting point and served as a chance to exchange ideas and start new collaborations.

Apart from science, the success of the symposium stems from the carefully organized social events. The football game that took place on Wednesday, 5th September, at Chalandri between scientists from Greece and the rest of the world vs the Europe is an event most of us will remember. Prof. Cordopatis played for the Europeans whereas Assoc. Prof. George Spyroulias was a player and scorer for the Greek team. The final score was 5-4 in favor of Greece and the rest of the world.
